Greener blackstuff

With global warming dominating the headlines, many individuals and companies are now starting to look at ways to improve their environmental performance.

At Goodyear, we've been doing this for years - advising motorists on the right tyres and their condition because both these factors can have a major effect on fuel efficiency; and therefore your car's carbon emissions.

However, we're now proud to say we can now do so much more.

After 5 years research and development at the Goodyear technical centre we've pioneered a way to lessen the environmental impact of every mile you travel. We call it BioTRED. And our new GT3 is the first tyre in the world to incorporate this all-new, patented innovation.

With BioTRED we've developed the technology to make tyres without traditional oil-based compounds. In stead, organic materials derived from cornstarch are used in place of fossil fuels.

As a sustainable source, corn is obviously far better for the environment. But this is just one of the advantages of new GT3 with BioTRED. It also uses less energy in the tyre manufacturing process and the resulting tyre delivers improved performance and economy.

The GT3 with BioTRED has been proven to cut fuel consumption by up to 5% over previous GT tyres, yet still deliver all the safety and comfort you expect from a high performance Goodyear tyre. And less fuel going in means less exhaust gasses coming out.

We believe GT3 and BioTRED mark the beginning of a new era in tyre development, one that heralds a greater respect for the environment.

It isn't, of course, the answer to all our problems. But it's certainly a step in the right direction.
