Safety Beyond Tyres
Pushing the boat out with the RNLI
Give the gift of life this Christmas
Rather than wasting money on novelty presents this Christmas, Goodyear is urging shoppers to buy a gift that, quite literally, saves lives.
At the beginning of the year, Goodyear joined forces with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to help fund the safety charity's vital lifesaving training, by making a donation to the organisation from its tyre sales.
To date, the company has raised more than £10,000 for the volunteer lifeboat crews who rescue more than 8,000 people every year.
As the RNLI receives no funding from the UK Government and instead relies upon the generosity of donors, Goodyear is urging people to consider buying an RNLI gift that helps crew members to save lives.
Goodyear's communications specialist, Anna Stanley said, "The RNLI safeguard our shores and do an absolutely fantastic job in the toughest of conditions. We are proud to support them and would like to encourage everyone to purchase a worthwhile RNLI gift this Christmas, as it really will make a lifesaving difference to many people".
Purchasing a virtual gift and funding a piece of vital equipment for an RNLI crew member is the perfect way to spread the season's greetings.
For as little as £12, well wishers can purchase three self heating food cans for an RNLI crew member. For just £16, virtual gift givers can buy a pair of warm, waterproof gloves and £40 will help a crew member withstand the 30ft waves and force 8 gales with a pair of custom-made sea boots.
Whatever your budget, the RNLI will use your money to assist the crews that are in most need of equipment.
RNLI spokesperson Marie Cowan said, 'We hope our crews and their families can enjoy a peaceful Christmas, but if the call comes, they will be ready to launch a lifeboat in any weather, at any time of day. By buying a virtual RNLI gift for a friend or family member this Christmas, you will be helping to equip our volunteers so that they can carry out rescues and save lives at sea'.
