Auto Express declare Goodyear HydraGrip as 'Best Buy' in tyre test

The Goodyear HydraGrip has been awarded 'Best Buy' in the family car tyre market after winning the UK's biggest independent comparison test of tyre performance and safety.

Auto Express, Britain's biggest selling motoring weekly magazine, today revealed the results of their comprehensive test of 16 tyre brands. The test compared stopping distances, handling, grip, fuel consumption, in car-noise levels and prices to determine the champion in the highly competitive family car tyre market. The test featured one of the biggest selling tyre sizes (215/55VR16) fitted to a Volkswagen Passat.

The Goodyear was consistently strong in all areas of the test, and excelled in the wet, particularly in the curved aquaplaning test. This test measures the amount of grip a car has whilst turning a constant radius corner, similar to a curving sliproad on a motorway intersection. In this test, the Goodyear HydraGrip had an incredible 15% more grip than any other tyre tested, and a staggering 49% more grip than one other popular brand.

"The Goodyear was miles ahead of the rest - it was so good, we could feel it from behind the (steering) wheel, holding its grip through the soaked section after many rivals had just steered off" declared the Auto Express test driver.
